During a short, pre-spring window, thousands of flowers will bloom, surrounded by original art on the ground of Prague Castle.
From March 6 to 16, Early Spring: Ephemeral Entities brings together the works of 16 young artists on the themes of nature and the fragility of existence in the Empire Greenhouse. The works represent a cross-section of sculptural pieces—objects, small-scale installations, light projections, and sound displays that interact with the flowers— set against the botanical backdrop of the Empire-style greenhouse.
The annual exhibition is held under the patronage of the First Lady of the Czech Republic, Eva Pavlová.
“Spring symbolizes new beginnings, creativity, and inspiration, making it a perfect match with young artists. The exhibition presents fine art and highlights the incredible work of our gardeners, who have been preparing the plants since autumn for this special occasion,” says Pavlová.

This year’s floral selection includes 44 tulip varieties, 27 types of daffodils, 16 small bulb flowers, 8 irises, and 5 types of hyacinths. Under the leadership of head gardener Vladimír Šeba, the castle gardening team has carefully cultivated and accelerated the growth of 5,000 blooms to ensure they reach full bloom just in time for the exhibition.
Prague Castle's extensive gardens encompass a variety of green spaces and historical landmarks.

Last weekend the castle reopened its gardens and the newly restored trail to the Deer Moat. From March 1, the gardens are freely accessible daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The renovated trail from Na Opyši Street, closed since 2019, now offers safer access with repaired steps and railings.
