The Prague School of Economics (VŠE) has risen to 49th place in the Financial Times 2024 European Business School Rankings, moving up three spots from the previous year and over 10 spots since 2022.

The Financial Times rankings combine results from various evaluations, including those for MBA, executive MBA, and executive education programs, as well as specialized offerings.

Within the former Eastern Bloc, only Poland’s Kozminski University ranked higher than VŠE, securing 38th place.

Dean of VŠE's Faculty of Business Administration Jiří Hnilica highlighted the university's CEMS International Management program's role in strengthening VŠE's status among Europe’s top business schools and appropriately preparing graduates for future employment.

Separately, last month the global Eduniversal Best Business School Ranking 2024, which evaluates the top 1,000 business schools from more than 150 countries, categorized VŠE as the best business university in Central and Eastern Europe.

While VŠE excels in European business school rankings, it did not make the top 1,000 universities in the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. In the QS rankings, Charles University led among Czech institutions, with Masaryk University in Brno, Palacky University Olomouc, and the University of Chemistry and Technology also ranking higher than VŠE.

The 2024 QS rankings saw VŠE come between 251st and 300th position in the accounting and finance category.

Despite this, VŠE is a relatively popular choice for international students in the Czech Republic. Each year, the university enrolls around 1,500 foreign students (out of around 20,000 in total), of which approximately 800 study on one- or two-semester exchange programs.

Established in 1953, VŠE has seven faculties in total and maintains several international partnerships with other universities and companies.

The Insead business school, with campuses in Europe, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, claimed the top position in the Financial Times rankings, surpassing established schools like HEC Paris and the London School of Economics.
