Politics Czech first ladies present and future meet

Outgoing Czech President Milos Zeman's wife, Ivana, met Eva Pavlová, the wife of President-elect Petr Pavel, to talk about Zemanová's work experience and activities during her husband's mandate, according to a tweet from presidential spokesman Jiří Ovčáček. According to Zemanová, the meeting was “very pleasant.”

Police Missing 12-year-old in Czechia found

A missing 12-year-old boy from Hradec Králové was around 11 a.m. found, Czech police report. He was declared missing on Sunday evening. He is reported to have left his home Sunday with a 19-year-old male – no details were provided on how or where the boy was found. The police searched for the boy using the Child in Danger system, a national coordination mechanism to search for missing children.

UKRAINE Pavel says date of Ukraine visit not up to him

Czech President-elect Petr Pavel has asked Ukraine to set a definite date for his visit to the attacked country. He mentioned that the number of official governmental visits to Ukraine has been quite high recently, and therefore expressed that Ukraine should be able to choose when exactly it would like Pavel to visit. U.S. President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Ukraine earlier today.

Sports Jankto plays for Sparta for first time since coming out

Czech football player and social media superhero Jakub Jankto played for the first time on Sunday since coming out last week. The Sparta midfielder went in 20 minutes before the end of the match, running out onto the field to applause and fans chanting his name. Sparta beat Jablonec on Sunday in Prague 3:0 with a strong performance in the second half, reports Sport.cz.

Diplomacy President-elect speaks at Munich conference

Czech president-elect Petr Pavel met with a number of world leaders at the Munich Security Conference through the weekend, ČTK reports. Pavel told journalists that he cannot see any breach in Western unity regarding Ukraine and Russia. Pavel said due to the shrinking reserves of arms stores, the West should activate its defense industry in order to help Ukraine and, at the same time, enhance its own security.

Tragedy Garden colony fire claims four lives in North Bohemia

Four people were found dead following a fire that broke out in a cottage in a garden colony in the Ústí nad Labem region Saturday, police tweeted. Regional detectives and other experts are investigating the source of the fire. Two children and two adults died in the fire.

Price Czech Inflation to drive up cost of highway stamps

Highway stamps in the Czech Republic will become more expensive, the Czech Minister of Transport said in a weekend interview with CNN Prima. While the price of the new stamps has yet to be released, the ministry previously confirmed an annual price jump due to inflation, as well as the introduction of a one-day stamp. Prices for both will be announced by the state at a later date.

Weather Clouds and rain for Czechia this week

This week in the Czech Republic will be cloudy, accompanied by occasional rain and strong wind early in the week, according to the latest forecast from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. Temperatures will remain warm with the highest daily temperatures reaching above ten degrees Celsius. Cooler temperatures are expected through the weekend. This weekend saw record temperatures hit the country.
