Two Prague restaurants, La Degustation Boheme Bourgeoise and Field, have retained their Michelin stars in the Main Cities of Europe Michelin Guide for 2020.

Field, located in Praha 1 by the Vltava river, is known to be one of the least expensive Michelin-starred restaurants. They first received their Michelin star in 2016 and have defended it for the past four years. La Degustation Boheme Bourgeoise, located in Prague’s Old Town, was first awarded their Michelin star in 2012 and they have defended it ever since.

“We buy the same ingredients that are processed by the same chefs according to the same procedures. The food you have with us today will be as good as a year ago, because we continue to do all we can do – cook the perfect ingredients from the perfect ingredients. it tastes great,” Chef Oldřich Sahajdák said.

Following the coronavirus pandemic, high-end restaurants around Prague pivoted their strategy to offer discounted lunch and dinner menus to local Czech residents. La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise, for example, introduced a discounted lunch menu for 590 CZK that offers an appetizer, main course and dessert when they reopened in May. For dinner, the restaurant offers an extended dinner menu with a five-course tasting menu for 1,800 CZK.

“As for style of cooking, [the pandemic closure] will have no impact, we only believe in our way of cooking and serving food,” chef Sahajdák told Expats.cz earlier this year. “We’ll still cook the same way as always, with best local ingredients and the best local chefs, and the result will be great.”

Field has a weekly lunch menu that offers 2 courses and coffee for 490 CZK. or 3 courses and coffee for 590 CZK. Their ten-course degustation menu costs 3,200 CZK with a vegetarian option at 2,900 CZK. The six-course option costs 1,800 CZK.

Prague used to have other Michelin-starred eateries, too. Alcron lost their Michelin star in 2018; meanwhile, Allegro and Maze, two starred eateries, closed down.

Several Prague restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition this year, as well. The Bib Gourmand category recognized exceptionally good food priced according to economic standards.
