Mornings hum with activity in a bustling kitchen nestled in Prague 8. Freezers are absent, and the day begins with a fresh delivery of quality ingredients from local suppliers. Every component, from sauces, breads and desserts, is crafted meticulously from scratch.

It’s not Karlin’s latest farm-to-fork dining venue but the workspace of MyChef Kitchen, a company that has spent the last six years redefining Prague’s drab “krabičková dieta (diet box)” market – essentially a string of healthy meal delivery services that primarily stick to an uninspiring meat-potato-and-frozen-vegetable standard.

“Krabičková dieta has been around for a while but has been very old school until recently,” says Kristina Tayara, MyChef’s co-founder and operations manager. “When we came to the market, it was our job to change people’s minds about what this service meant.”

Less time cooking, more time enjoying life

Since then, MyChef has been dedicated to making meal preparation stress-free, allowing clients to focus on what truly matters. Initially serving busy parents, MyChef now caters to students, professionals, retirees, and vegetarians, providing well-balanced meals that nourish body and soul.

The company aims to offer convenient meal solutions, giving clients more time for family, hobbies, work, and enjoyment. By taking the stress out of meal preparation, the company helps customers live their best lives.

“MyChef really strives to create a community and support clients personally,” says Tayara, adding that this commitment extends beyond meal delivery, aiming to partner with clients to enhance their overall well-being and lifestyle.

Elevating meal boxes to new heights

Today, Czech consumers order an estimated 70,000 meal boxes a month, and the trend shows no signs of slowing; many are looking for healthier options, convenience, or both.

Amid this booming boxed-meal industry, MyChef has built its reputation around wide-ranging weekly menus, offering dishes personalized with fresh, top-quality local ingredients and lots of variety. In fact, MyChef is the only meal program in the Czech Republic that prepares everything from scratch and all their desserts are sugar- and gluten-free.

MyChef meal boxes caught a resigned public by surprise. “We gave them something they weren’t expecting – quality, variety, and freshness,” says Tayara.

Chef Marcel Radu, co-founder and kitchen manager, and his staff work closely with nutritionists to create scrumptious meals that satisfy any palette or eating-style. Sustainability is paramount — nothing in the MyChef kitchen goes to waste.

The kitchen’s four unique meal programs – Flexitarian, Healthy Balance, Low Carb, Vege, and Detox (coming soon!) – have elevated Prague’s boxed-meal culture to new heights.

Personalized menus, convenient pickup and delivery

Meals are delivered daily to your home or office, or you can pick up that day’s boxes from several points across the city.

The company also offers a two-day option for people interested in trying MyChef without a long commitment. For CZK 990, this option allows you to choose up to three meals and two snacks daily from any MyChef menu.

While the menus for each program are fixed for the week, customers can make personal requests, such as asking the kitchen to hold off on a certain ingredient in their meals.

Under each menu, a disclaimer emphasizes the kitchen’s strict commitment to fresh, quality ingredients. If the morning delivery does not meet MyChef criteria, the kitchen staff will quickly adjust the menu and alert customers.

“We have menus that rotate. Some ingredients that are there in summer won’t be there in autumn. Sometimes, our supplies might not have something in stock. We improvised a lot,” says Tayara, “but these last-minute changes never impact our high standards.”

As MyChef expands its innovative menus and convenient delivery options, it continues to set a new standard in Prague’s culinary landscape, promising great taste and health benefits without the hefty price tag.
