Starting in June 2025, Václav Havel Airport in Prague will be connected to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, with a new direct flight service. Etihad Airways will operate this route using Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which have a capacity of 270 seats.

The airline will operate the new direct connection between Prague and Abu Dhabi four times per week beginning next summer, with regular flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

This new route marks the return of a direct flight between the capitals of the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates after nearly 11 years. The previous service on this route, operated by Czech Airlines, ended on Jan. 17, 2014. The new Prague-Abu Dhabi route will be the first operated by carrier Etihad Airways in the Czech Republic.

"We are very pleased that after almost 11 years, and also after a number of negotiations, we managed to confirm the connection between Prague and Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways and their Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner," Jiří Pos, chairman of the board of directors of Prague Airport, stated when announcing the new direct connection.

"The airline will start flying to Prague for the very first time, and on this occasion, the agreed frequency of flights to four times a week is a great success. This means that our network of long-haul routes is expanding again, and we can offer passengers another important Middle Eastern destination with great local potential and a network of connecting flights to Asia, Africa and Australia."

Abu Dhabi, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates with a population of 3.8 million, is known for its beaches on the Persian Gulf as well as its impressive landmarks. Visitors from Prague will now have direct access to explore the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which spans 12 hectares and features 82 domes of various sizes.

The city is also home to the 9-kilometer-long Saadiyat Beach, world-famous for its pristine white sand. Other popular attractions in Abu Dhabi also include Ferrari World, Yas Water World, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a sister museum to the original in Paris dubbed "France's largest cultural project abroad."

Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Covering a total area of 80,000 square kilometers, it is a whopping 17 times larger than the more widely-recognized emirate of Dubai.
