Student Deals in the Czech Republic

If you’re a student or just young – chronologically, not at heart – you are eligible for either the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) or the Alive/International Youth Travel Card (Alive/IYTC).

How to obtain an ISIC or IYTC:

What you will need:
Current proof that you are currently studying full-time at a recognized institution, e.g. your college or university student ID or a signed letter from your school on the institution’s letter head.

To apply for the Alive/IYTC you must be between the ages 15 – 25 years. To get an Alive/IYTC you need to present:
· Passport
· Birth certificate
· An official identity card issued by the official authorities
· A passport sized photo

The ISIC or IYTC make you eligible for a number of discounts. These are listed below by category.

Public Transport

Prague Metro
Students who attends recognized universities, which includes state universities, are entitled to discounts on monthly, quarterly and annual tickets

Czech Rail
Discount card available: In-zákazník/Rail Plus. The card is an electronic card which displays information about the holder when placed on a reader. The card is valid for 3 years. It entitles the holder to 25% discount on the following:
· one-way ticket
· return ticket
· season ticket
· network ticket KLASIK

To apply you need to fill in an application form, available from stations which can electronically issue tickets. Or it can be downloaded here. With the application you will need to pay 330 CZK, if you are between 15-26 years, otherwise it is 990 CZK, and provide a passport photo.

Student Travel Pass (Žakovský průkaz)

How to apply:
Purchase a print out of the pass for 1 CZK at the following train stations:
Fill in your name, your residence, the address of the school, name of school.
Bring with you confirmation of your school year, school stamp and signature and the school  must mark if you study during the week or if you commute only one way because you board.
