In the Czech Republic there’s just one way to beat the heat — with a beer, preferably in the shade of a beer garden. With one less leafy zahrádka to colonize this season (RIP Riegrovy sady) Prague’s riverbanks and culture spaces are rising to the challenge, hosting no less than four beer fests this weekend alone, followed by a couple more the weekend after.

Prague Beer Festivities 2019 (Pražské pivní slavnosti)
June 14-15
PVA Expo Prague Letnany
A large zone devoted to 25 different brewers will be a part of this weekend’s American Festival, a showcase of Elvis impersonators, classic cars, and all things ‘Murica. Nachos, wings, burgers, and pivo? International relations have never tasted so good.

Cider Festival 2019 (Slavnost cideru)
June 14-16
Smíchovská náplavka
Not exactly beer, per se, but it’s cold, wet and served in a glass bottle so we think it qualifies. And Czech ciders have seen a renaissance in recent years. Taste over 100 ciders made by small-batch craft manufacturers from the Czech Republic and abroad. Live music and food stalls round out the festivities.

Mini Beer Festival at Náplavka 2019 (Pivo na Náplavce)
June 14-15
Náplavka
Fifty-plus Czech microbrews will be on tap at the seventh-annual outing of this small-scale but lively event that also sees a stellar line-up of live music, DJs, and food vendors from Balkan grill favorites to pizza.

Mini-Brewery Festival at Prague Castle 2019 (Festival minipivovarů na Pražském hradě)
June 14-15
Queen Anne’s Summer Palace/Prague Castle
This annual festival of microbreweries, set on the lush grounds of Prague’s Castle’s summer palace, is hosted by the Czech-Moravian Union of Microbreweries in an effort to promote beer drinking in the Czech lands and beyond.

Czech BeerSinging (České PivoPění)
June 22
Smíchovská náplavka
The seventh annual outing of this festival, a celebration of Czech culture and beer, offers a sample of over 20+ beers from local micro-breweries as well as an accompanying program of Czech bands and wine and food tastings.

Beer & Food & Music Lovers
June 22-23
Střelecký island
Paying homage to Czech beer, from a short but solid line-up of local taps, paired with a quality selection of local street food vendors (Mexican, pizza, bbq) and purveyors of cider and prosecco. Live music and DJ sets on the island’s grassy lawns make for a mellow vibe.
