FLAVOR PHO-CUSED

A sad farewell to the beloved Taro restaurant in Anděl, moving to Prague 1, has opened a steamy door to PHO 100 in its place, helmed by the Khan brothers and Giang Ta on their new venture into homey pho. Pulling methods from masters in Saigon and Budapest, the hearty bowls of Vietnamese soups are an original recipe, with the noodles crafted from a special machine imported from Hanoi. It’s a meal you won’t be able to find anywhere else, with meat supplied from Maso Klouda, herbs from Sapa, and a homemade sriracha sauce made from fermented chilli peppers.

BISTRO BESERK

A snazzy new spot to enjoy a late breakfast (up until 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and 2:30 p.m. on weekends) has opened on Vinohrady’s Londýnská Street from which it takes its name. Londýn 35 serves up staples like Turkish eggs, granola bowls, and special desserts like Basque cheesecake, in a fresh and swanky interior.

If you’re a Prague foodie you’ll already know about Mezi Srnky; the hearty breakfast and brunch spot in both Vinohrady and Smíchov. In September, another branch of the beloved chain opened on Americká Street—meaning even more stellar brunches, and lashings of pumpkin spice lattes (one of the best places in Prague to obtain the autumnal drink).

Plant-based diners will be pleased by the opening of Chef&Co in Prague 1, your typical Prague bistro with a tailored menu done right. Curry udon, kimchi burgers, fried cauliflower, and more plant-based classics and twists are made using organic and artisanal ingredients, with pretty good bang for your buck.

A young winery from Veselí nad Moravou that has since expanded to open a bistro has brought a dose of their local delicacies to LIHOVAR in Smíchov. Italian paninis, devious hot dogs, and sweet treats like tiramisu from Dog in Dock offer perfect bites to complement your stroll along the residential area.

COFFEE AND CAKE

Tucked in Werich's villa in Malá Strana, Iveta Fabešová Café is a stylish new haven for coffee and pastry lovers alike. Born from the creativity of renowned Czech pastry chef Iveta Fabešová, this shop, part of the permanent exhibition of the late actor Jan Werich’s villa, offers homemade designer desserts associated with the history of the house. Think delicate fruit tarts, velvety chocolate cakes, and flaky croissants, perfect to savor with a slow morning brew or as an afternoon treat.

A new espresso bar in Brumlovka brings what they term ‘happy beans’ to your mug with dedicated coffee craftsmanship. Kofyka grinds up flavors from around the world, from Kenya to Costa Rica, selling packaged beans along with coffee paraphernalia. You can grab a pastry from the window while stopping for your morning brew.

BEEF EATS

The world’s favorite Michelin-starred steakhouse Le Petit Beefbar has set up shop at W Prague, the grand hotel housed in an art nouveau building in Wenceslas Square. Dine as though you’re inside a Parisian brasserie and cut into a steak cooked to your liking. Sure to be a standout for visitors passing through town, this elevated dining experience caters to fancy lunch and dinner fantasies.

The ever-popular Hoxton Burgers has debuted a new branch in JzP, offering more than just their renowned ‘smash burgers’ dripping with cheese and all that good stuff. A new brunch menu serves up soft-serve scrambled eggs, savory and sweet bubble waffles, and soft-serve ice cream—you may need to lie down after this meal.

A new Italian take-out spot just dropped in Galeria Butovice. Enjoy authentic Italian dishes at Pastagiano, with their specialty homemade spaghetti mixed with Parmigiano Reggiano. Choose your delicious plate of pasta from a selection of classics including bolognese, carbonara, salsiccia, and more, dining in at the bistro or takeaway.

WINE AND DINE

Tretter's Wine Bar by Bacchus, located in Dejvice, offers an exceptional selection of wines, including rare archive bottles and prestigious champagnes, plus a bistro menu. The venue combines a chic, timeless ambiance inspired by classic metropolitan wine bars, providing an elegant setting for wine enthusiasts with over 450 different wines and 30 available by the glass.

Venture to the village of Hlubočepy in Prague 5 and find yourself amidst rocky mountains at the entrance to the Prokop Valley, gazing out to flocks of sheep grazing grassy plains. Perched in the middle of it all is Semmering, founded by two friends born and raised in the village, with a diverse menu of shrimp curry, pappardelle with wild boar ragout, poached pear for dessert, and more. The highlight is its breathtaking view as the sun sets behind the Semmering railway.
