Prague, June 7 (ČTK) – People from all of the EU and Serbia will be able to travel to the Czech Republic without limits as of June 21 if they meet the rules of Covid vaccination or testing, or have recovered from the infection in the past 180 days, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch told reporters after Monday's government meeting.

Similar rules for visiting currently apply to the citizens of Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia. They can travel to the Czech Republic freely if at least 22 days have passed since their first dose of a Covid vaccine. This rule will now be valid for the entire EU and Serbia. The travelers will have to prove their vaccination with a national certificate.

"We expect that as of July 1, only the EU certificates, the so-called Covid passports, will be recognized as of July 1," Vojtěch said.

At the beginning of June, the Czech Republic facilitated the travelling for vaccinated people from Australia, Israel, Thailand, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea. They can use local accommodation services and restaurants.

In general, foreigners arriving in the Czech Republic from the countries denoted by the Health Ministry as those with low Covid infection risk need not either present a negative test for coronavirus or fill in an arrival form. Currently, this list also includes Iceland, Japan, Malta, San Marino, and the Vatican, in addition to the six countries mentioned above.

European Covid passes are intended to make travelling easier in the future.

The EU will issue a joint framework for giving and verifying the certificates on vaccination, testing, and the recent recovery, called the Digital Covid Certificate, directly via an efficient regulation. The Digital Covid Certificate's introduction is expected as of July 1 as a step to facilitate travel between the EU states. These were originally to be called Digital Green Certificates, but the name has not been changed.
